Bidding Game

Project Description: A multi-player game for students to learn about production costs and product pricing in a simulated competitive environment. Groups compete with one another to win profitable contracts in a bidding market controlled by the instructor. Students work collaboratively to explore the different variables and make decisions.

Motivation: Instructors observed some students struggled with Management Accounting classes as these are generally content heavy and require many references to concepts from various disciplines, like business and economics. Instructors would like to create a game which generates interest and allows students to recall and apply the various management accounting concepts.

Deliverables / Outcomes: This game is used primarily in class to teach concepts of production costs and product pricing. It can also act as an interactive way to jumpstart students’ revision work if it is used later in the course.
