The increasing reliance on technology to facilitate learning experiences opens a wide area of opportunities to explore what are the most effective ways to support the student experience. Adequate feedback has been identified as one of the aspects that can have a strong positive influence in this experience. However, the process usually requires substantial human intervention and becomes impractical for large student cohorts. In this talk Professor Abelardo Pardo provided an overall description of how learning analytics can contribute towards the deployment of personalised learning at scale by combining comprehensive data capturing, a systematic characterisation of the learning experience, and the use of learning analytics to achieve effective personalisation. He included examples of initiatives conducted in other institutions in which this approach has shown significant increase in student satisfaction.
