Dear Colleagues,
Given the current haze conditions, I would like to share the following:
- let us all keep a watchful eye on the conditions and keep ourselves informed of new developments via the media for official announcements from the government and via email for announcements from SMU management;
- unless otherwise announced, the university will remain in operation and classes (and mid-term tests) will proceed as scheduled; however, please take all necessary mitigation measures based on the Ministry of Health’s health advisory where outdoor activities are concerned.
- despite the brief respite over the past week, the haze may return, conditions may deteriorate and remain so for a prolonged period of time. Should that happen, we should be ready to activate e-learning at short notice.. For those who have participated in CTE EPTL workshops, you have been equipped with the tools to conduct lessons through eLearning. For those who have not, please ensure that you sign up for one of the workshops with CTE before the end of the year. If we should need to activate elearning before you have had time to attend the EPTL workshop, please acquaint yourself with the elearning tools available at IITS. Please contact May Lit or the eLearn team (elearn [at] smu.edu.sg), who are ready to assist you to learn how to use the tools.
Thank you for working together to ensure safety for all our students while minimizing disruptions to class and student activities where possible.
